The Prenuptial Agreement

By Nada Arnot Nothing can kill romance faster than the words prenuptial agreement (also affectionately known as a prenup). But before you decide to shelve the idea, you might want to consider some of the advantages of having such an agreement before leaping into marriage. A prenuptial agreement is a contract between two people about to wed that outlines how assets will be distributed in the event of divorce or death. The notion of a prenup is not new. In fact, it has existed for thousands of years in some form or another, particularly among royalty in European and far Eastern societies who needed to protect their familys wealth and namesake. However, you dont need to be rich and famous to need a prenuptial agreement. Why You Need a Prenuptial Agreement We know that it is hard to think of divorce when youre thinking of making a lifelong commitment. It even seems self-defeating. But the truth is that divorce is a reality for many couples. We have all heard the startling statistics: 1 in 3 first marriages end in divorce and 50% of second or third marriages hit the skids. So, a prenup isnt such a crazy idea. In the end, a prenuptial agreement can help minimize the financial and emotional toll of dealing with a divorce. Couples without one will have their assets distributed for them by the state (i.e., divorce court) if the marriage ends and they disagree on who gets what. Still, only 5% of couples getting married for the first time and 20% of couples preparing for their second marriage write prenuptial agreements. Some couples forgo the prenup conversation because they are afraid that their partner may think that they have reservations about the stability of their relationship. There is also an urban myth that only the rich and famous need to worry about protecting their wealth, so many people skip the prenup issue because they dont think that it applies to them. The truth is that prenuptial agreements are relevant to everyone. After all, an asset is an asset. You may not be worth millions, but you are worth something. You may even be worth more in the future. This last point is particularly important if you are young and just starting out in your career. Did you know that your spouse might be entitled to a significant percent of your future earnings if he/she supported you in some way (this may be as small as giving you money for groceries) during your college days? There is actually a mathematical formula that lawyers use to calculate the value of professional credentials (e.g., law and medical degrees) in terms of the amount of money that you will make during your entire working life. According to the law, your spouse may be entitled to a percentage of this calculation. A prenup is also important if this is a second (or third) marriage for either you or your partner. Without a prenup, assets could end up in the hands of your or your spouses children from a previous marriage. Steps in the Prenuptial Process 1. Initiate the discussion early. Whatever you do, do NOT wait until a week before the wedding to broach this touchy subject. 2. Come to a consensus with your partner about what you want the prenup to say. Why pay a lawyer for what you and your darling can hash out together? 3. Hire separate attorneys who specialize in marital law. To help ensure that the prenuptial agreement is legally binding, you need to have your own lawyers. 4. After drafting the prenup with your respective attorneys, make sure to seal the deal with your signatures (duh!). 5. Review and revise the prenuptial agreement every few years to ensure that it continues to reflect your current situation. Breaching the Subject Its understandable that you have reservations about breaching the subject with your partner. But you shouldnt let your concerns or your preconceptions get in the way of dealing with something that is as important as your financial future. That being said, you should make it a part of your discussions with your sweetie about how you plan on managing your finances as a married couple (e.g., joint or separate bank accounts, pension plans, stocks, life insurance and wills). Consider as smart financial planning. And if your partner freaks out when you say that you want a prenup, assure her that this is about financial planning and not about your lack of confidence in the stability of your relationship. If she is still skeptical, remind her that many perfectly healthy individuals write wills that is, you dont need to be dying in order to have a will. If your partner is the one to initiate the prenup discussion, consider yourself luck. Its a good sign that you have a financially savvy woman on your hands. And if you continue to be concerned about your sweeties undying love for you, ask yourself this question: Would she really be willing to endure the trials and tribulations of wedding planning if she was unsure about the future of your relationship? Wedding Vows

By Julia Tweed Planning your wedding requires you to make a multitude of decisions, but none may be as important as the words you choose to exchange as your wedding vows. A vow is by definition a solemn promise and, therefore, should not be taken lightly. These words seal your commitment to each other. Many couples wish to write their own vows, as they believe that their own words will be more meaningful than the traditional vows. Before you start drafting your vows, you need to talk with your officiant. Your faith or denomination may have requirements or your officiant may have specific words that you cannot deviate from. Once you have received the go ahead to write your own vows, the pressure is on to come up with just the right words to communicate your feelings toward each other. Whatever you do, don’t wait until the very last minute to write your vows. That will only create more stress and you really need to have the officiant review them, and approve them before the wedding ceremony. Writing your vows may be easier if you break down the traditional vows and analyse what it is that the vows are conveying. The traditional vows contain a statement of affection; you promise to “love and cherish” each other. You promise your faithfulness with the wording “forsaking all others”. You vow to love unconditionally with the wording “for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health”. Lastly, you are saying that it will be a permanent relationship with the words “as long as we both shall live”. It may make the writing of vows much easier if you take the four base promises of affection, faithfulness, unconditional and permanence, think about what those promises mean to you, then convey your feelings in your own words. Another way to begin your process of writing your vows would be to take a piece of paper and answer these questions: Why do you love your fiance? What about them inspires you? What are your dreams for the future? What makes the two of you unique? What difficult problems or life trials have you been through and how did you work them out? Answering these questions may help to identify the special qualities and uniqueness of your relationship. As you write your vows, keep in mind that you are writing them for and about your fiance, be sincere. This isn’t a speech you are giving to the guests at your wedding. After you have finished writing your vows and they have been approved by your wedding officiant, practice reciting them. You want to be comfortable with the wording and you don’t want to stumble over any of the words. The most important thing is that when you look into the eyes of your soon to be husband or wife, you want them to know that the words you recite as your wedding vows are coming from your heart. This article was written by Julia Tweed. I am also the publisher of an ebook entitled “Getting Ready To Say “I Do”. This ebook is a step by step guide for planning your wedding. Getting Ready For Liposuction

By Jeanette Pollock Before getting a liposuction, you should consult with your doctor. The purpose of the consultation is to determine your fitness for the operation. Your medical history, previous health problems, and current medication will be important factors to consider as a candidate for the liposuction. To help your doctor make the right evaluations, be sure to inform him of any medical conditions that you might have suffered in the past. If you smoke or drink heavily, please mention that as well. During your initial consultation, your doctor should check you for the following: first, the locations of your fat deposits; second, your skin tone; and third, any possible underlying hernias. Your surgeon should also discuss with you the alternatives available to liposuction, such as a tummy tucks, breast lifts, arm lifts, and thigh lifts. A majority of liposuction procedures are performed on an outpatient basis this means that you can go home right after the operation. However, more extensive liposuction might require hospital care for several days. Preparing for surgery will involve some changes in your diet and lifestyle. Your surgeon will issue you guidelines about the food items that you can eat, as well as the medication that you should and should not take. Try not to get sick at any time before the operation, as any infection will most likely postpone the procedure. Although more and more people are now getting liposuctions, it doesnt mean that you should make the decision to have one lightly. All operations have risks attached to them, so you should conduct some research before you make your choice. Jeanette Pollock is a freelance author and website owner of cosmeticsurgery-101.com. Thrilled With My New Nextel Cell Phone

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Christopher_Luck]Christopher Luck A few months back I left my old cell phone behind in the stone age. Its amazing how fast these techno toys get out of date. I looked around on the web and in a few shopping mall stores to get a bit of information and decided to go with the Nextel cell phone service. Not only was the girl I talked to more informative then the restretail service is so hit and miss these daysbut their network as a whole seemed to offer better things. From their website I learned about their actual cellular networknot that thats the right word anymore. Right now the Nextel cell phone network is one hundred percent digital making the original cellular technology nothing more than a catchy pop culture word. This makes connections faster, clearer and more powerful. It also makes it easy for them to be up to date with all the latest data features that have come along and that will continue to evolve in the future. The cool thing about Nextel cell phones is that they have walkie-talkie features built into them making connecting to other network users a breeze. Not only does the package I got allow me unlimited use of this feature, but connection through the walkie-talkie is instant. That means no number dialing, phone ringing and waiting for the person to pick up. All I have to do to reach my best friendwho I convinced to buy a Nextel cell phone with meis push a button and talk. No real mystery there, it works pretty much like any other walkie-talkie. Like most other phones around these days, Nextel cell phones have web access built into them. What I liked though was the simplicity of how their internet access was designed. I never thought Id be the kind of person whod read the news and send emails through my phone but their setup was good enough that it got me trying it out. Now I use it all the time when Im on the bus or just needing to check something when Im running around. My favorite feature offered through the Nextel cell phone services is their organizational tools. I have always hated entering new names and numbers through the keypad and never enjoyed using my phone as my only accessible address book. As long as you have a Nextel cell phone though you can use their Mynextel address book application. This thing is totally web based and allows you to manage all your contacts on a computerwhich is so much easierand then view them on your phone whenever its needed. For one thing this allows me to make changes anywhere and have them instantly appear on [http://www.pearlvalleypress.com/category/technology-reviews]my nextel phone and on whatever computer I end up using. Better still, it lets me have access to information I never would have bothered entering in a phone before, like email addresses and birthdays. All in all Im loving this thing and have been convincing everyone I know to join the network. While the service is good as a single user, the more people I can walkie-talkie the better! Fly Fishing Trips for Women

By Ken Marlborough Fly fishing has been considered a mostly male pastime since its inception, but now many women are beginning to turn to this sport for fun, relaxation, and even competition. Many female competitors participate at or above the level of their male peers. During the years, many men were unsupportive towards women wanting to fish because of the general mentality that women were supposed to stay in the homes, but as time passed more women began fly fishing and several organizations for women were created. Special women fly-fishing classes were created and several guides that only served women appeared. Nowadays, several locations and companies provide women fly fishing trips. They teach women all the techniques necessary to be a successful fly fisher. Women are taught how to handle the rod and move it so that fish will be tempted, how to wheel in the fish once they are caught, what to wear for protection, and general tips for successfully luring and catching fish. Over the years, many fly fishing competitions appeared that were only open to women, and others in which men and women competed alongside each other in an equal contest. Fly Fishing is no longer only a men’s sport, as women from all over the world and all cultures are starting to practice it. Women from all different age groups and backgrounds enjoy the sport. The fly-fishing industry welcomes these women and provides everything possible so that they will continue participating in the sport. Participating in a woman fly-fishing trip is a good way to learn the basics of the sport and get a good idea of the techniques and skills necessary to catching fish. Fly Fishing Trips provides detailed information about fly fishing trips, fly fishing gear, fly fishing knots and more. Fly Fishing Trips is affiliated with Bed And Breakfast Maine. No Money Yet Get a New Car with Cheap Car Finance

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Steve_C_Clark]Steve C Clark In terms of principal, there is not much of difference between a simple car loan and cheap car finance; it only differs in, as the term suggests itself, the annual percentage rate which is lower. Annual percentage rate (APR) It is the name given to the sum of costs involved in the loan that is sum of rate of interest and various costs involved. Getting cheap car finance is not at all a difficult task in the present market situation; its simply because of the stiff competition in the market, which invariably follows Demand and Supply law. So, it is a win-win situation for the consumer but only if he follows some very basic things. Before applying for cheap car finance one must ensure that one has a good credit record; now this doesnt imply a person with bad credit cant get the loan, it simply means person with good credit are preferred. At the time of applying for cheap car finance, a person must determine his credit worthiness, so that he can repay the loan amount. One should always be transparent in furnishing his personal and financial detail. These steps if followed can make car loan cheaper and safer. Refinancing Refinancing can be one of the best methods of making car loan cheaper. It can be done with the same or a different lender. Now what is it? If a person has taken a car loan and he finds presently the rates offered are cheaper than the one he took and he is facing difficulty in paying for the higher rate, then he can switch over to lower interest rate. It is in fact refinancing, it also simplifies the repayment mode. Bad credit car loans Persons with bad credit can also avail cheap car finance but that can sometimes be at a higher rate, which can be neutralized by having a cosigner who will guarantee the repayment and incase of repayment the lender will take the money from him. So it is advised to always plan the type of car before buying, so that it can be repaid afterwards. Sometimes companies also ask for collateral, which keeps them on a safer side. On line cheap car finance To avail this opportunity one needs to have only a computer and internet connection. Then by careful scrutiny, one can always get the best deal available. In this case, one should always ask for the free loan quotes. These loan quotes give a rough idea of total cost involved and these should be compared with rate of interest, other cost and terms and condition of loan. It must be ensured that there are no hidden costs, which can sometimes complicate matters. It is a general perception that the financial and personal details given to the cheap car finance providers are not safe or secure which in most of the cases are not true. Generally, the cheap car finance providing companies take extra care in this regard which is logical, as they have to survive in the market and do business. Steve Clark can tell you how to look better, live better and breathe better by giving you tips to improve your finances. He writes on loans. His ideas can help you rejuvenate your money. Sponsorship Marketing: A Framework For Evaluating Opportunity

By Catherine Brock Sponsorship marketing is a gray area for many marketers. Those who’ve focused on traditional advertising and publicity channels may be reluctant to delve into sponsorship activities or unsure how to find opportunities that fit. Evaluating teams, athletes, events and the benefits associated with sponsorship exposure can be cumbersome, particularly if you don’t have your requirements and guidelines clearly defined ahead of time. Effective use of sponsorship marketing requires careful consideration of qualitative and quantitative information. While pure exposure may be one of the benefits you’re looking for, the evaluation of your options should not be based solely on the numbers of impressions your brand will receive. The focus should instead be on the quality of those impressions. For example, a brand that claims to make your car go faster would obviously benefit from being associated with a top-performing motor sports team. Compare this to a sponsorship of the last place race team on the same circuit: The number of direct impressions is the same, but are you sending the same message? Evaluating sponsorship opportunities against defined guidelines and objectives helps you avoid sending mixed messages to your consumer and allows you to identify opportunities that reinforce your traditional brand messaging. The creation of internal sponsorship activity guidelines should consider the brand objective, budget and distribution constraints and the target audience. Objective. What is the primary objective of your overall marketing strategy? What are the weak areas of your brand and its image in the marketplace? Sponsorships can be used as tuck-in programs that address specific objectives under the umbrella of a larger marketing plan. Do you need to change or enhance your image with your existing customers? Are you trying to gain credibility with a new consumer group? Do you need to educate a particular consumer group about the benefits of your product? Perhaps you are launching a line extension or new brand and you need to let your existing customers know about it? Are you countering a competitor’s aggressive marketing? Sponsorship opportunities may last one day, a weekend, a year or indefinitely. The time frame appropriate for your brand will be defined by the objective. For example, pre-launch activities have a definite endpoint, while consumer relationship building is an ongoing process. Articulating specific objectives allows for more focused implementation and easier assessment of results. Budget. Define how much you can set aside early in the process. Budget considerations will greatly reduce the number of programs you’ll have to evaluate in detail. If, for example, you have only $100,000 to spend, sponsoring an entire men’s soccer team won’t be an option. Distribution. Is your product available locally, regionally, nationally or globally? Nationally televised events will cost more than local ones. It doesn’t make sense to pay for the opportunity to promote your product to a large audience when that audience can’t get your product. Further, sponsorship should not be an isolated marketing activity. It should support and be supported by traditional advertising and publicity efforts. There should be a very good reason why you would choose to create sponsorship exposure in areas that are not supported by your advertising. Audience. The identification of your objective will define the audience you need to reach. Most sponsorship pitches will provide you with a demographic analysis of the audience; compare this to your target. If you are seeking sponsorships but aren’t sure where to look, spend some time researching the types of activities the target audience enjoys. Consumers typically respond well to brands that they perceive as supportive and respectful of their lifestyle. Level of Involvement. Event, Series or Competitor? Once you have selected an activity, you may have the choice of sponsoring an event, series of events or a competitor who participates in that event. Each comes with its own advantages. Again, having a stated objective will help clarify the appropriate choice. Sponsoring an event or series of events usually generates more exposure, because your brand will likely be included in event advertising. You may also value the benefits of being associated with a high quality group of brands that jointly sponsor the activity. Event sponsors often receive additional features for their support, such as the ability to set up an on-site display. The cost of these additional features is built into the sponsorship investment. Make sure you will use these features or select another, more appropriate opportunity. It’s simply inefficient to pay for booth space when you don’t have the necessary resources or desire to set up a mobile marketing display. The decision to sponsor an event versus a series of events is generally based on your timeline, budget and manpower. There are also specific benefits (and risks) to sponsoring a competitor. The competitor sponsorship gives you access to a live personality and endorsement to use in your advertising. If the sponsored competitor is successful, you can piggy-back that success to associate your brand with winning qualities - performance, quality, durability, etc., as appropriate to the brand’s positioning. The risks of sponsoring a competitor are related to the target audience’s perception of that personality. If the competitor is not considered credible by the audience, the endorsement to your brand isn’t worth much. Volatile personalities can fall out of favor with their fans as quickly as they came in. A controversial personality may work for brands positioned as edgy and raw, but will probably weaken brands with more mainstream reputations. Basically, the personality you select to endorse your brand must be respectful of and consistent with the brand’s image. Otherwise, you will send mixed messages to the consumer. Every marketer feels the pressure of trying to increase the efficiency of the overall marketing investment. Sponsorship marketing provides another avenue to reach your consumer and sell your brand. Approached with care, sponsorships can be valuable tools to maximize marketing efficiency and reinforce the impact of your brand in the marketplace. Ah, the Cell Phone

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=James_Hunt]James Hunt Buying a cell phone seems pretty straightforward. One goes to the store, or the mall kiosk, and signs up for a service. Then, if the offer is a good deal, a cell phone comes free. Or, sometimes the salesperson tries to upgrade the buyer into paying more money by showing a variety of cell phone brands. Cell phones arent just made by one company. There are many cell phone brands available. Most cell phone companies contract with electronics manufacturers to create phones that are compatible with their services. These cell phone brands have different styles and types of phones. Many cell phone makers constantly try to outdo each other with features. Many phones now include color displays and some form of Web access. Other cell phone brands put out phones that can take pictures. Not only does the cell phone have many features now, but it also comes in many styles. Some phones look like small, straight sticks. Others are done in a clamshell style, flipping open and then closing into a small, compact shape. Some cell phone brands are experimenting with cell phones that simply fit over the ear, no hands necessary at all. This type of cell phone does not require a separate head set plug-in; the cell phone actually fits over the ear. The three main cell phone brands are Samsung, Nokia and Motorola. Samsung specializes in picture cell phones and Motorola makes mainly walkie-talkie style cell phones. Nokia has an array of Web accessible phones. No matter which service you choose, the company probably carries all cell phone brands. When choosing which cell phone is right for you, think about what you want to do with it, and what features appeal to you. Dont be pressured by the salesperson. The cell phone is an expression of who you are: make sure you get what you want. James Hunt has spent 15 years as a professional writer and researcher covering stories that cover a whole spectrum of interest.
